5 Local Places We’re Going to Check out at NACUFS National Conference 2018

Here are 5 local places that we’re planning to visit during NACUFS National Conference 2018

As we’re gearing up for the NACUFS National Conference, I’ve picked out some must-see places to get the full experience of Providence, RI.

1. Olneyville New York System

18 Plainfield St Providence, RI 02909

Rhode Island’s State Drink is coffee milk, so be sure to stop in here to try it while you’re visiting. Olneyville New York System is known as “R.I.’s Best Hot Weiner” and is said to pair perfectly with this sweet drink, so it is my top choice of places to stop in and take in a local delight. And with a James Beard Foundation America’s Classics Award for 2014, I know we won’t be disappointed in making this a must-visit while in Providence.

2. Federal Hill

Federal Hill, Providence, RI

Just a few blocks from the Omni is Federal Hill. Often referred to as Providence’s Little Italy, this neighborhood boasts a number of Italian cafes, shops and restaurants. Tour the neighborhood on foot by yourself, or there are tours available that have a culinary focus, which is perfect for all of us “foodies” in town for the conference. If you have the chance to visit here at night, there are street performers to keep you entertained.

3. RISD Museum

20 N Main St, Providence, RI 02903

This museum is a five-building cluster located on the RISD campus. With over 91,000 works of art on display this museum is known for being manageable to visit in just a couple of hours. This museum is also known for having a wide range of mediums and a very large Gothic and Medieval collection.  And, if you are staying through Sunday, admission to the museum is free!

4. Roger Williams Park

1000 Elmwood Ave, Providence, RI 02907

This park has over 435 acres to explore and you’ll want to check out the gardens, greenhouses and lakes. It’s also home to the Museum of Natural History and the Roger Williams Zoo. Put on your walking shoes and stretch your legs with miles of paths to stroll down. With many historic buildings on-site at the park, there will be something for everyone to enjoy during the beautiful weather of Providence.

5. The Eddy

95 Eddy St, Providence, RI 02903

This bar is the perfect place for an afternoon cocktail and snack or a nice way to wrap up your evening after dinner. With craft cocktails galore, as well as cocktails on tap(!), if you’re feeling a little adventurous, you can always ask for the bartender’s choice. Make sure to pair your delicious cocktail with an assortment of local cured meats and cheeses and opt for some of their “good” bread!
